I did not grow up in a Christian home. In fact, there was little to no religion in my household. A life-long friend and his family changed that. I was at their house all the time witnessing what a Christian family was like. They poured into me who Jesus was and the love that He had for me. It was because of their spiritual influence that I came to know Christ at the age of 18. I was very blessed to have God put people in my life to guide me to have a personal relationship with Him. It has been a long time since that day and I have been through many trials and tribulations, but it is because of my faith in Christ that I have been able to “ride the storms” that this life throws our way.
From an early age, I always wanted to be a coach and a teacher. I had that chance starting in 1994. I thought I was going to retire a coach and a teacher. However, God began to show me that He had different plans. In 2012, God started nudging me to think about stepping away from the teaching/coaching profession and into an area of vocational ministry. In the summer of 2014, I was offered the Preteen Minister’s position at the church we were attending. I enrolled in a master’s program at DBU in the spring of 2015 and stepped away from coaching at the end of the 2015 school year to allow more time for ministry and continuing my education. I felt that God was writing a new chapter in my “book” and I felt free. I am still teaching and waiting to see where God will take me in the education profession. God has recently blessed me with the opportunity to take on a new part-time position here at Christ Chapel as the Associate Connect Pastor. I am very grateful and blessed to be at CCBC. This is the next chapter in my “book” and I am excited for the opportunities that God has in store for me here at Christ Chapel.
I am very excited about all the wonderful people I am going to meet and having the opportunities to help them find their place here at Christ Chapel. One thing that I hope to get to be a part of is teaching/preaching the Word to others! I have a passion for building relationships with others and making them feel accepted and cared for. I especially want them to know that not just I, but their Heavenly Father loves them.
I have been happily married to my fabulous bride, April, for 25 years this summer (2019). We have been blessed to have three wonderful children. My oldest, Connor, is a freshman at LeTourneau University in Longview majoring in Mechanical Engineering. My middle child, Cason, is a junior at Christian Life Preparatory School and my youngest, Jocelyn, is a 6th grader also attending Christian Life Preparatory School. We love family time and enjoy camping, hanging out with friends, being outside, going to sporting events, etc. I am also a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and love the Texas Rangers (but never as much as the Steelers).
