I accepted Christ as a child, but it wasn’t until I plugged into youth ministry in high school that I really started learning what it means to follow Christ. The experience taught me both the ins and outs of a relationship with Jesus and what community looks like. A big moment in my faith was my freshman year of college. At the time, I was chasing my own dreams of studying in a pre-med program at Baylor and not really asking the Lord what He had for me. Then I experienced Him calling me to ministry — and I was floored. I knew better than to say “You have the wrong person,” but I literally knew nothing else. I wasn’t following Him at that point and felt really young in my faith. I got serious with what my faith looked like and God led me to both Dallas Baptist University and Sky Ranch where I started experiencing more Christian community and people who could teach me.
The past four and a half years I’ve served as an associate student minister at a church in Plano. I loved that opportunity so much, but in the summer of 2018 started to sense that maybe God was releasing me from the position. I was cautious with making the decision, but felt a peace to start looking at other opportunities. That’s when I discovered Christ Chapel, reached out, and started falling in love with the staff. I’m a big relationship person and I’m excited to know the middle school girls here, their moms and the whole Christ Chapel staff. It takes a village to raise someone in their faith – and I’m excited to unite all these groups in the discipling of middle school girls.
