MINISTRY TO MEN AT CHRIST CHAPEL

______________

Momentum is a cross-generational community of men studying God’s Word, endeavoring to live out the commandments of the Bible by serving and leading where God has placed them. Our mission is simple: to equip men to be agents of change for Jesus Christ in their everyday lives.

BUT ONE THING I DO: FORGETTING WHAT LIES BEHIND AND STRAINING FORWARD TO WHAT LIES AHEAD, I PRESS ON TOWARD THE GOAL FOR THE PRIZE OF THE UPWARD CALL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS.

Band of Brothers: A Weekly Study of God’s Word

________

We put a high priority on teaching God’s Word in the context of community because we believe that the Bible, in combination with genuine community, provides the wisdom and encouragement we need to live as godly men in the midst of an ungodly world. Meeting weekly at both campuses, Band of Brothers is our chance to do just that.

In our fall series, “Sinner and Saint: Making Holiness an Obsession, Not an Option,” we’re exploring the Old and New Testaments in an effort to understand what it means to live a godly life. We often buy into the idea that these two personalities (sinner and saint) just exist within us and we have no real hope of our new identity in Christ taking precedence over our old sin nature. We learn to just tolerate our old nature, accepting that it will always be there — but the truth is, we don’t have to live with this split personality. We are called to a life of holiness and God has provided us with all we need to make it possible. If you’re looking for a way to build more community or would like to know God more, Band of Brothers is an awesome place to start. Join us this fall!

FaithFit

Living the Christian life on your own is an uphill battle. That’s where FaithFit comes in! It is a discipleship initiative aimed at connecting you with other men who also desire to live their lives for Christ’s glory.

There are two paths to choose from:

A program where you and a friend, a mentor, or a group follow one of the discussion focused studies we created for our four recommended books. For more information on the books, click on the following link.

Book Summeries

Tony Evans’ book, No More Excuses, provides us men with the advice and the inspiration we need to fight on through our difficult and trying circumstances. Tony draws from the lives of biblical men, including Moses, Joseph, Jonah, and David, to show us how the struggles we faced yesterday, face today, and will face tomorrow are the tools God is using to shape us into the men He desires us to be.

Paul Tripp’s book, how people change, is written for all of us. The Gospel promises a changed heart, but we all get stuck by the sinful choices we make over and over. This book targets our hearts, because only when our core desires and motivations change, does our behavior change. In Christ, we are a new creation. The old has passed and the new has come. This book shows us how lasting change is possible.

Can we truly trust what the Bible says and teaches? Is it sufficient for our lives? Kevin DeYoung’s book, Taking God At His Word, introduces us to the Bible’s lasting significance and how it answers the important questions raised by our world today. He helps us understand how the Bible can be knowable, is enough, and provides us with everything we need.

Are you struggling to find purpose in your work? How can you find meaning and serve others in today’s work culture? Timothy Keller’s book, Every Good Endeavor, takes a look at God’s original intention for work and how the Christian view of work can provide us with a thriving, balanced professional and personal life. He shows us, as Christ-followers, that through biblical wisdom and principles, we can stay true to our values and find meaning and purpose in glorifying God with our work.

An intentional, one-on-one program focusing on the development of your personal relationship with Christ and how that relationship should influence you to live for Him in every aspect of your daily life. You will be paired with an experienced mentor who will guide you through an 18-week curriculum that can be divided up into 3, 6-week segments.

If you are interested in either The Calling or The Commission, follow the registration links below to take that first step towards growing closer to God with a brother in Christ.

If you are interested in The Calling, follow the link below to access the discussion questions by creating an account and choosing your book to begin!

Men on Mission

_____

In 2014, the Men’s Ministry adopted a remote fishing village in Brazil. We raised funds to build a church in the village and sent a team from our ministry to assist in it’s construction. Ever since, we have been traveling to the village to provide discipleship training to its men and to encourage them in their walk with Christ. If you would like information on the trip, please email Momentum@christchapelbc.org.

FaithForums

_____

These forums are held throughout the year and are aimed at the different life stages. Our goal is to create a dialogue with men of all ages to better understand what it is they are struggling with in their particular season of life. If you are interested in participating in a forum and/or would like to share your thoughts with us, please email Momentum@christchapelbc.org.
