Boris and Natasha*

Children: Rocky, Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right and Nell

East Africa
This Muslim-majority region has been plagued by internal conflict and war, resulting in the deaths of thousands and displacement of nearly all the rest. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only solution to bring peace. Although the Bible is available in most of the local languages, few are circulated throughout the territory. Our desire is to see self-multiplying bodies of believers who study and obey the Word together and seek to bring healing to the area. In addition to drinking way too much coffee and tea with locals, we also run a school, develop small local businesses and  oversee medical ministries which provide opportunities to sow seeds broadly and find the good soil.

Rod and Pam Kinch

Colombia
Rod and Pam live in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. As a part of Wycliffe Bible Translators, they have worked in Colombia since 1972. They are completing the translation of the New Testament for the Yurutí people, who live in the upper Amazon basin of southeastern Colombia. The Yurutí believers are completing “read-throughs” of each New Testament book  in key Yurutí villages before publication. This process gives the people an opportunity to give input regarding biblical terms and vocabulary while exposing them to the Scriptures. Praise the Lord for His provision of the funds need to build a chapel at the village of Consuelo. The construction is going well and the people hope to have this chapel completed in 2017. The new chapel, built in the village of Puerto Loma last year, is now being used for “read-throughs” in that village.

Contact Rod at Rod_Kinch@sil.org for more information.

Lecio works with Volunteers For Christ, Inc. in Recife, Brazil. As president of VFC Brazil, Lecio oversees a large Christian camping ministry at Rancho Pitanga, a children’s ministry called Kid’s Place in the inner-city favela of Coque, and a church plant in the fishing village of Abreu do Una, which is 90 minutes south of Recife. Kid’s Place is located in one of the largest and most dangerous slums in Recife, but this ministry provides a safe haven for these children and helps them with an education, meals, physical/healthy activities, Bible study, tutoring, counseling and, most importantly, it introduces them to the saving grace available to them through Jesus Christ.

Jim and Sharon Nelson*

United States
Jim has done a lot of Arabic translation for Muslims (Bible, evangelistic materials, etc.) and has recently published a translation of the Qur’an with 4,000 cross-references to the Bible so that Muslims will be motivated to read the Bible. He has just started on an English translation of the New Testament for Muslims (Muslim names like Ibrahim for Abraham, etc. plus wording that is clearer for Muslims). Please pray that God would use these materials, especially His Word, to draw Muslims to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
