The Quest: New Testament One-Year Reading Plan

The following schedule will enable you to read the entire New Testament in one year. You are about to embark on a life-changing journey of discovery. A quest that will take you all the way from a stable in Bethlehem to a hill on the outskirts of Jerusalem, from the Temple Mount to Mars Hill, from the streets of Rome to the gates of heaven. Along the way you’ll rediscover the joy of the Messiah’s birth, the hope of His message, the sorrow of His death and the joy of His resurrection.

You will witness the birth of the Church, the spread of the Gospel, the hope of the cross and its power to transform sinners into saints. For the next year, you will be reading through the books of the New Testament. It is our prayer that as you read, study and pray, your faith will grow stronger, your love for God will go deeper and your peace in the midst of life’s storms will be greater.

Read only on the weekdays and not the weekends. If you miss a day, that’s okay. Just pick it up the next day and start again. (You can use the weekends as your catch-up days.)

Remember, the goal is retention and understanding. So do not rush your way through the daily readings. Take some time to reflect on what you read. Be sure and use the S.O.A.P. acronym to help you get as much out of the passage as possible.

SOAP Acronym:
S – Scripture. Read the daily passage.
O – Observe. Write down what you see. Keep it simple.
A – Application. Apply what you read to your life.
P – Prayer. Ask God to help you live out what you have learned.

Finally, be sure and share what you are learning with others. That is part of the journey as we learn, grow and share together. We hope you enjoy your experience.

Take your next step with God by beginning
a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Admit that you're a sinner, separated from a holy and perfect God.
(Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6)

Understand that the penalty for your sin is death - eternal separation from God and all that is good.
(Romans 6:23, Hebrews 9:27)

Believe that Jesus Christ took the penalty for your sin by dying in your place and conquered death by raising from the dead.
(Romans 5:8, 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Receive the free gift of salvation by trusting in Christ alone as your Savior from sin and death and your provider of true and eternal life.
(Romans 4:4-5, 5:1, Ephesians 2:8-9)

One way you can express your trust in Jesus Christ is by telling God Himself:

"Dear God,

I know that I'm a sinner. I know my sin deserves to be punished. I believe Christ died for me and rose from the grave. I trust Jesus Christ alone as my Savior. Thank You for the forgiveness and everlasting life that I now have. It is because of Jesus that I have peace praying these things to you.

- Amen."
